Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers (also referred to as Raising Cane’s) is actually a fast-food restaurant chain dedicated to chicken fingers, that was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey on August 26, 1996. While company headquarters stay in Baton Rouge, a second restaurant support office was opened in Plano, Texas in 2009 and a third in 2018 in raising canes menu prices, Nebraska. The company has 437 restaurants in 27 states in the United States, along with an additional 22 restaurants in the Middle East.
Todd Graves first started dreaming of his very own restaurant in the early 1990s. Craig Silvey, a primary partner in Todd’s plan, was enrolled in a strategic business plan writing course at LSU at that time. They wrote the business plan and Silvey turned it in, that Silvey received a “B-“. Even though the business plan was rejected numerous times by potential investors, Graves set out to generate the money he required to start the restaurant, first by working in refineries in California, then by fishing for sockeye salmon in Alaska. He and Silvey then obtained an SBA loan, that they used to open the first restaurant in Baton Rouge at the intersection of Highland Road and State Street near the LSU campus. They even drew on the help of family and friends for a few of the work on Cane’s #1, and a number of these names are carved in the restaurant woodwork. Originally, the small restaurant competed against a similarly themed drive-in called Bailey’s Chicken Fingers on the opposite end of the campus. By 1999, however, it managed to prove itself the more successful business, because it forced Bailey’s away from business, becoming the only real chicken-finger focused restaurant on campus.

Graves and Silvey, who both worked as salmon fishermen in Alaska to increase money to open the initial Raising Cane’s restaurant, were likely to name the chain Sockeye’s Chicken Fingers, after the Sockeye salmon they fished for. The two decided never to name their restaurant following the fish to prevent confusion in whether the restaurant sold seafood or chicken fingers. These people were uxzzua convinced to list it after Graves’s dog, a yellow Labrador, “Raising Cane,” called “Cane” for brief. Grave’s younger sister wanted to name the puppy Sugar Cain. She liked this because she thought he was sweet and it also enjoyed a Louisiana flair because of all the sugar cane farming within the state.
Graves’ didn’t want his dog to become called Sugar, so he suggested calling your pet Raising Cane. His sister agreed as long as Cane was spelled C-A-N-E to denote that he was still sweet.
